Rush Limbaugh Just Like Elton John?

ELTON JOHN X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

In a very unlikely pairing of personalities, Rush Limbaugh has gone public in comparing himself to Sir Elton John, saying they have the same views in opposition to gay marriage.

“Elton John is on the same page as I am, as is Obama on gay marriage. He's for civil unions, but he's not for marriage,” he says.

This notion was later dissected by the ladies of The View, who discussed John's appearance at Limbaugh’s wedding. They suggest the dollar is the motivating factor in this relationship.

They go on to mention that Elton John is also scheduled to play a concert in Arizona, amid the state’s political controversies

What is amazing about the marriage debate is the following. I can understand if a person doesn't believe in gay marriage, that's their choice, just as some people do not believe in interracial marriage. But should a group that does not believe in interracial marriage be allowed to vote to make it illegal for those who want it? Of course not. It should be the same for gay marriage. If you don't believe in gay marriage, don't have one, or attend one. But why should you prevent me when my marriage has NOTHING to do with your life????

@Andrew, is not your community if you don't stand for equality. Unless you are old, in the closet, married to a woman with three kids and a mortgage. You probably are jealous of the rest of us. I assume your opinion might be the result of not being able to find true love. Trolling gay sites to share your misery is really sad. I hope you get the help you need. Sigh...

Elton is lucky he is a world class performer, otherwise his ass wouldn't even be allowed to reside in the USA with his partner. You are a lucky man Elton, unlike about 30,000 binational couples who are separated and prevented from living together in the USA due to unfair immigration laws for gays. He can come and go whenever he pleases to America only because he is a performer and can get a performers Visa. I really have lost a lot of respect for Elton John this year. He lives in his rich man's priviledged bubble. And this coming from a huge fan.

Kudos to Elton for having the balls to say and do what he wants to do, inpsite of all the mindless criticism from our community. I especially applaud his playing in AZ and Israel! Thank you for having a backbone, sir!

Elton continues to embarrass himsel in his dotage by aligning himself with that opiate-addicted pumpkin-head Rush. I guess Bernie Taupin was the real genius behind all those great early songs.

If Elton is against gay marriage, he is out of touch with what is currently happening in Britain. Britain currently allows civil unions for gay couples, with all the same rights and legal benefits (pensions, survivorship, taxes) as marriage, except for the name "marriage." The current debate and push in Britain is for gay couples to also be entitled to marry in churches, if the church permits. Also, marriage will be available for everyone, gay or straight. Civil rights leaders in Britain like Peter Tatchell are adament that this will all happen in Britain in the next few years. And most Brits, gay and straight, are now in favor of gay marriage, or "Equal Marriage for All." After all, the sky didn't fall down when the government allowed civil unions for gay couples. Maybe Elton should figure out what is going on in his own country before suggesting what should happen in the USA.

    Comment:

Rush should do his homework before showing his stupidity, no one in England is married, marriage is that thing you do in the church for your family but it is not the official recognition of the union. That is done at city hall where unions are registered, all Enland the state recognizes is the civil union between two people whether they are str8 or gay. Elton John and David Furnish are as married as Charles and Camilla, they were married in the same spot and by the same officials. Limbaugh is confused as always and is mixing the churches use of the word marriage with the legal term for marriage. And for the bitter queens here, Elton is not broke, David Furnish did not marry him for money, in fact if not for David Elton would probably be dead today of an overdose. So what if he played Newts wedding, he recieved his performance fee and stuck it to Newt who had to pay the gay guy. What is wrong with gays, we have to eat our own as well, does it make you feel better?
