Website Tracks Marriage Equality Opponents

STATESTHATALLOWGAYMARRIAGE.COM X390 (GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

StatesThatAllowGayMarriage.com follows not only where same-sex couples can wed but which politicians are standing in the way of marriage equality.

The recently launched website has a map detailing where same-sex marriage and civil unions — as well as marriage equality bans — are in place. Each state can also be clicked on to reveal the marriage equality stances of that state's governor, U.S. senators, and U.S. representatives.

The next step is for the GLBT community to unite and decide that they will not visit or spend any tourist dollars in those places that are discriminatory. I have never been to Texas or Oklahoma, and with the backward attitudes I see there, I never want to visit or spend a dime there. But there are other hateful places like Virginia and recently Hawaii. Let's spend our GLBT tourist dollars in Canada, Iowa; Washington, D.C.; Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont. Let's hurt the bigots where they will feel it the worst, in their pocketbooks.

Awesome website. I'm glad someone is doing something like this. I love that it lists ever representative that supports or is against gay equality.

It's great to see our community taking action instead of sitting around and waiting for someone to throw us some scraps great things do not come to those who wait but for those who seek them out! Huzzah!
