Tom Hardy Not Bi After All?

TOM HARDY X390 (GETTY) | ADVOCATE.COM

Comments from an interview with The Daily Mail in which actor Tom Hardy talked about the men he slept with in his 20s were reportedly taken out of context.

E! Online reports that a source close to the actor claims he was talking about a role when he made those comments and the reporter changed the interview around to make it seem like he was talking about himself. The source says Hardy was quoting from a script.

According to The Daily Mail, when asked if he’d ever slept with men, the Inception star replied: "As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor for f--k's sake. I’ve played with everything and everyone.”

E! Online suggests this may also be a case of a young actor distancing himself from some headline-grabbing comments, citing that according to his résumé, he’s played gay only once, in the action film RocknRolla. In that film Hardy played a mobster.

Typicality of the Advocate focusing on issues of no relevance to the community. You guys had the heads-up on the Poland GLBT situation three years ago and failed to act. http://www.topix.com/news/gay/2011/04/equality-foundation-of-poland-bank-accounts-frozen-by-court-order Protecting whom? Gays ought not support your enterprise any longer because you don't present us. You represent your self interests not ours.

What exactly are we gay people required to do...wear a sign around our neck that says "Im Gay" I think not. I don't give a S*** that some people hear part of a story...and make up thier minds about who and what someone else is or has been for that matter. You know what? If them people have such the problem with who I am, WHY don't they just come out and ASK me if I'm gay or whatever. But no, all they can do is talk about fags and faggots when i'm in thier company. You probably wonder why i even talk to them. Well, its cus I don't give a damn what they think. They are allowed to have thier opinion. Don't mean i even CARE! I just smile when they use them words. Besides, Long time ago, I did way worse then use them fag words. Surprised they didn't grab a gun and shoot me. I did deserve it.

I always cringe when I hear a straight woman on tv say, "What a waste," when a male admits to being gay. To me that is an incredible insult. So I see nothing wrong with someone born gay being disappointed if someone he is attracted to idenfies as straight. However, in this case, a famous gay person pretending to be straight (or his publicist pretending) hurts all of us. It hurts the self esteem of the liars and their spouses. It also sends a dangerous message to straight people voting on our civil rights in unconstitutional ballot initiatives that gay people and our relationships don't exist. Finally it sends a terrible message to young gays that they are alone, don't matter, have no role models, and what they are is so evil it can't even be admitted. Shame on the closet gay actors. Being openly gay no longer damages one's career in Hollywood. Be honest and tell the truth about yourself and your loved ones.

@ Daniel: "ts very normal for a gay men to be mad that a handsome actor is straight, the gay men that are upset, might be because he is not playing for our team" Are you kidding me?! You are projecting your own immaturity onto the rest of us. I, nor any gay man I know, has been mad at an actor for being straight. Some of us live in the real world and are able to deal with straight men in a more realistic manner than you. While I certainly may have wished some stud might be gay, getting mad at them has never been issue. Don't pin your fucked up ideas onto others.

Nobiashere- Well, first of all, if I am an insult to all gay men, then I think that includes you, so let's just start by saying that I am glad that I insulted you. Second, wow, you sound like some dejected pathetic wall flower whose entire self esteem is controlled by the high school football quarterback's attention. If you are in high school, I have nothing more to say. If you are not, and I assume that you are not, then you really need to take a chill pill. Daniel, do not fall in love with straight men, they are to only be used as sex objects. At the same time, do not become sad and pathetic like nobiashere, people like him never have sex and if they do, it is only with other pathetic people like him. I am sure Daniel that you are smart enough to know not to look to this group for love, but straight guys can make great friends and terrific one night stands. Besides, are you really going to listen to a guy who calls himself noboiashere, and then posts only bias things?

It is so obvious to me that gay people struggles main issue is gay people. With so many people, famous or not still entrenched in the closet can you blame the man for wanting to set the record straight. The fact is for every Ellen, Rosie, Neil there is a thousand others who dare not even think of coming out. This community cannot get total acceptance from the rest of society until it gets it from its own. The mayor of our anonymous town here in Pennsylvania is gay and everyone knows it. He has parties for men only in his house and it goes on all night. There is even a gay club one town over that he frequents just about every weekend. Well a young gay man moved from Minnesota with his family and found out about the mayor. He wanted to write about him for a major magazine about the progressive work he is doing and also mention he is gay. Well the young man got a nasty letter from the mayor's attorney that if he spread slander he will be sued. The article was never written.
