MSNBC Rejects Target Ad

TARGET MOVEON.ORG X390 | ADVOCATE.COM

A television ad by MoveOn.org was rejected by MSNBC Thursday because it violates the network's policy against attacks on individual businesses.

The ad features Target's iconic red bull's-eye logo and claims the company was attempting to buy the election by donating $150,000 to MN Forward, a political action committee supporting antigay gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.

MoveOn executive director Justin Ruben said the rejection was "the height of hypocrisy," according to the Associated Press. He also said MSNBC's parent company, General Electric, was protecting Target. The ads are running on Minneapolis–St. Paul ABC, NBC, and CBS affiliates.

"Awesome clip, 800,000 hits when I check." BTW you can reload the page to bring up the view count, so not impressed. I know people who do that on youtube, losers.

Think about it backbenchers, when have you ever, EVER seen a non-commircial ad that attacks an individual company. The AFA tried to pull the same scheme with an ad attacking Disney for a being pro-gay. Every network rejected. MSNBC did the right thing.

This headline was misleading. It's not a Target ad; it's an ANTI-Target ad. Why does the Advocate do these things?

I am very upset by this. Generally I like MSNBC and I felt like this was really a let down. I wrote to them expressing my dismay, very professionally, and kindly asked them to give the little guy a voice too since now political campaigns have the availability of unbridled corporate spending.

MoveOn just lost my money as well as Target, and they both have gotten a lot . Thanks for thinking that your BIASED ad was clever, almost as clever as their donation. When will we understand that being QUEENY AND CHILDISH does not make you militant, it makes you queeny and silly, snippy ads and comments are simply falling on deaf ears. Stop dreaming up these stupid parlor stunts and get into a committee of change and use your voice to vote on good things instead of using your powers for evil, grow up and become a participant and not just a news spectacle. Evil begets evil.
