Take That Reunites Brokeback Style

Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow, featured members of the '90s British band Take That, patched up their friendship with a new song, "Shame," the video for which draws striking inspiration from gay classic Brokeback Mountain. The video, featuring smoldering glances across the bar, long intimate bar-side discussion, and shirtless afternoon fishing trips, recalls the now-iconic romance between Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist.

According to London's Daily Mail, Williams's departure from hit Brit-pop boy band Take That 15 years ago created what some have called a bitter divide between him and former band mates. Now, as Take That approaches its 20h anniversary, the singers seem to have reconciled with the new single. The song's lyrics seem to directly address the past rift, with lines such as "I don't recall the reasons why. I must have meant them at the time. Is this the sound of sweet surrender? I wrote a letter in my mind but the words were so unkind about a man I can't remember."

On filming the video, Williams commented, "It was amazing, not awkward at all. I love Gary to bits. Ayda [Williams's wife] calls him my boyfriend."

"Shame" is the first single from Williams's upcoming new album, In and Out of Consciousness, set for release October 4.

Well, michaelandfred- I hope that is two people, anyway. No, he never made it because he doesn't have any talent; he is as bubblegum as they get. And, actually it does bother him. I saw a report on him and he spoke about it himself, trying to understand why he has never been able to break into America. This is a weak song sang by someone desperate to get into in America. He has been borderline homophobic a few times and I think he is pretty talent free, but don't worry, he is big in Japan. HE thinks he is macho, I think he is a little pip-squeak.

The only reason Robbie Williams never "made it" in America is because of our countries rampant homophobia and insecurities, not Williams talent. In the rest of the world he's as big a star, or bigger, than Beyonce or Timberlake. Like most European men, being a man is about who you ARE, not what you wear or how macho you "Act." Since he's one of the worlds biggest recording artists I'm sure he's crying all the way to the bank by not "making" it in America.

The reality is that Robbie Williams has never made it in America, although he has tried endlessly. The truth is that he is just plain and boring. This is his 1000 attempt and I think his thought was to target the gay audience. Well, guess what, you are still boring,

there is no mockery. It is a totally autobiographical song about them and their relationship. It's about losing so much time after arguing about things you don't even remember.

It's a nice song and I love how they made the video homoerotic, but I really hate confederate flags (they're offensive).

Is there a reason why all the retail signs in the beginning of the video are backwards? Appealing to the homo-erotic dyslexic crowd are we?

What? No spitting in the hand to use as lube? That would have made it worth sitting through such a bland song.
