Oval Office Gets a Gay Man’s Touch

As political pundits are busy critiquing Obama’s Tuesday night address from the Oval Office, design enthusiasts are blogging about the room’s new look.

The refreshed look of the Oval Office comes courtesy of designer Michael Smith, who was appointed by the president to the Committee for the Preservation of the White House in February.

Smith, who is gay, has been featured in Elle Décor, W, and Architectural Digest. On Tuesday the world got a look at his hard work — new wallpaper, new sofas, new lamps.

Check out the new Oval Office and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

If you watched the video, you would understand no taxpayer dollars were spent in this remodeling. It was a donation from his election campaign fund.

Its a little weird that nobody cares that there isn't any red white or blue in the white house anymore Not to mention the price of remodeling when we are already trillions of dollors in debt. Or how nobody cares about the 9 billion dollors spent reconstructing Iraq.

I think it fits the obama's taste very well. It is elegant, neutral colors, and cordinates well. Yes this is coming from a Gay guy. Not all gay people need to scream Queens or anything. I think the fact that this office was done by a gay person in general means a lot. It means that President Obama treats everyone equal and is trying to his best to show that. Also the rug will more the likely remain in the office for a quite awhile after President Obama is no longer president. It will become a part of history.

As USUAL... The Vicious QUEENS here are doing what they can only do best... [and that is not a compliment] This is the Oval Office in The White House, it is a room that is used daily by the President, as well as other politicians, and to welcome foreign dignitaries, etc. etc. The color scheme is elegant and neutral, and befitting such a room in the White House. But as usual, the Queens think they have the upper hand, could have done better, blah, blah, blah! What did you Queens want it to reflect? The gay """PRIDE""" [umhummm] Flag? Give it a F**king rest Queens!

DOUG, clearly you DON'T read and is an ASS....THAT, YOU CAN DO w/o the YOUR PRESIDENT'S help! There are gay (white) males in all the areas you mention. He, himself, for whatever reasons and beliefs he personally hold don't agree with "gay marriage", but he has not come on tv, like YOUR previous president BUSH and declare his will to "change" the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES to declare that marriage is between a MAN and a WOMAN! Suck on that for a while!! Maybe then you will have a chance to THINK before you write such drool in the future... May I suggest that much of what he has done for us GAYS and I believe plan to do, will only serve to improve our standing, validation, protection (financially and legally) NOW and in the FUTURE. If the gains are not obvious AFTER his FIRST TERM, then you can BITCH!!! I wonder what YOU have done to improve the lives of gays; VOTED for BUSH (???); and what you had to say about CLINTON's DADT policy??

I don't give a Tinker's damn if it's redone in toilet paper... On the desk I want to see a Stop-Loss order halting enforcement of DADT, an ENDA bill waiting to be signed into law, and a bill repealing DOMA...
