Shout Your STD Status on Foursquare

GYT CAMPAIGN X390 (GRAB) | ADVOCATE.COM

Want your friends to know you have a clean bill of health? There's an app for that.

Users of the popular Foursquare mobile app, which shows fellow users where a person is once they opt to "check in" at a location, be it a taco stand or their favorite boutique, can now check in to local heath clinics to let everyone know they've been tested for sexually transmitted diseases. Users can earn a badge, part of MTV's and Kaiser Family Foundation's "GYT: Get Yourself Tested" campaign on Foursquare during the month of September, according to the Associated Press.

Those wanting the lime-green and black badge can go to their own doctors or can find nearby clinics using GYT's website.

How widespread is the strategy?... of "BEFORE we have sex let's get tested TOGETHER for A VARIETY of STDs." Do sexual health checkups reduce the ambiguity and can they be like anything else POTENTIAL sex partners do together?... If you needed surgery would you want the surgeon to wash before operating?... If you needed a blood transfusion would you want the blood tested before or after the transfusion?... see also http://notb4weknow.blogspot.com http://continuedat.blogspot.com "tested together" alerts http://www.google.com/alerts http://www.google.com/search?q=%22tested+together%22

This is the 3rd gay site to proclaim that you can share your STI status with a badge. You can't!!!! You simply show you've been tested. There is no badge to display your results. Stop being so damn misleading in your headlines..
