Valley of the Dolls, the endlessly quotable camp classic that launched a thousand rite-of-passage viewings for gay film buffs, will be shown tonight in Hollywood as part of the 75th anniversary celebration of Twentieth Century Fox. The unintentionally hilarious 1967 film adaptation of the best-selling novel by Jacqueline Susann follows the misadventures of three young show business hopefuls, played by Patty Duke, Barbara Parkins, and Sharon Tate, as they struggle with the pitfalls of fame, including booze, pills, and a Broadway terror played by Susan Hayward.

The film will be shown as a double feature with its in-name-only sequel Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, cowritten by film critic (and marriage equality advocate) Roger Ebert, at Hollywood's historic Egyptian Theatre. Cast members of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls will appear in person for a meet-and-greet prior to the screening.
