Yoko Ono Climaxes for Art

YOKO ONO MOMA X390

This summer, Yoko Ono has made occasional trips to MoMA in New York to perform Voice Piece For Soprano & Wish Tree as part of the exhibition Contemporary Art from the Collection.

And what exactly is Yoko doing? Faking a three-minute orgasm — in front of a crowd. Repeatedly.

Watch here.

Man! John must have really been something in the sack! lol But adding a serious note - For those who are questioning the "Art" of this... Careful folks, it wasn't that long ago that the Repugnantcans went after arts funding because they didn't like what some of the funds supported - ie What "they" presumed to be gay oriented art.

I don't get what's up with all the negative comments, aside from the standard Yoko-bashing. Her "orgasm" is certainly more realistic than how most "professional" porn stars sound when they're "climaxing." And to all the Yoko-bashers, her work is no worse than Patti Smith's or Lene Lovitch's or Siouxsie Sioux's or Morrissey's or Husker Du's (certainly Yoko's work is light-years ahead of the Sex Pistols'). Just because Yoko's work represents a different aesthetic doesn't mean it's bad and if she'd not gotten involved with John Lennon, Ono's work would be given its real due. It seems that most critics--and "regular" folks--just cannot get past their hatred for Yoko's "breaking up the Beatles" even though tensions were there before Yoko even entered the scene and review the woman's work fairly. Her influence is evident in punk, new wave and electronica.

I'm not going to watch her 'orgasm', but I do appreciate her for the 'Every Man Has a Man…' track on the Love Rocks CD. Yoko is a performance artist – not one I'd go out of my way to see, but one I can respect anyway.

If that's what Yoko sounds like during one of her "Big O" moments, thank God I'm gay and don't have to sleep with her!

There are times, and this is one of them, when I really struggle to see what some peoples contribution to society and humanity is. I'm not trying to be mean, seriously, I just don't get it. And it sadens me further that to many of these people are given airtime, especially if they have money. The spiral continues...
