Tea Partyers Up In Arms

Tim Ravndal X390 (MONTANA COWGIRL BLOG) | ADVOCATE.COM

A Montana Tea Party leader has been removed from his position, the result of an antigay Facebook post he had made earlier this summer, the Associated Press reports.

Tim Ravndal, the now-former president of the Big Sky Tea Party Association, was dismissed by the group's board of directors after a July 23 post in which he voiced his opposition to marriage equality.

In a likely reference to the 1998 Matthew Shepard murder in neighboring Wyoming, another Facebook user wrote on the post, "I think fruits are decorative. Hang up where they can be seen and appreciated. Call Wyoming for display instructions."

Ravndal replied, "Where can I get that Wyoming printed instruction manual?"

Jim Walker, chairman of the Tea Party chapter, said in a statement, "We continually make it known that we will not tolerate bigoted dialogue, behavior or messages at our functions, our meetings or within our ranks."

But there's also dissension in said ranks. Kristi Allen-Gailushas, secretary for the local Tea Party group, resigned in protest Tuesday, the Helena Independent Record reports. "They didn't even listen to Tim and what he had to say," Allen-Gailushas told the newspaper. "They were just worried about the [Montana] Human Rights Network and the ACLU and what they were going to say."

In a Facebook post, Allen-Gailushas fired a further shot across the bow: "The Gay community wants a war. ... they've got one!!"

"Please just ignore Pepa and it will go away." The best you drones have done IS to ignore my questions and points. Sorry that I don't regurgitate the same mundane "media matters" language and words. Everybody is parroting each other. Yes, because it does not require one to think as much. But at least some of you tried (even though all of which is complete FAIL) to address some of the things I have addressed. But since I don't belong to the homophobic obama party of anti-gay marriage supporters I am the bad guy? LOL. You can go after me all you want, but also you will have to go after some of the Advocate staff that has actually questioned the Obama Party and its inability to give you what you want after all the hard work and money you so slavishly gave them. I had not part in that. I laughed at it to be quite honest with you, as I am still laughing at you for being so naive, so ignorant, so closed minded.... so no I am not insulted by your childishness, it amuses me.

@ Greg, you seemed to be very confused. The Tea Party is a libertarian based movement. The movement wants less government, less intrusion into our lives, etc. Now there are many candidates and loud mouths like Sharron Angle who pretend to be a tea party activist. I have been involved in the movement since 07 and this year is the first time I've heard of such person (Angle). In fact, many candidates like her are, to my suspicions, plants of the GOP. Hence why I HAVE NOT ENDORSED ANGLE. Please visit my blog for a list of my endorsements. Your assertion about Rand Paul is unsubstantiated please refer to me anything that he said that was anti-liberty, because of all the speeches and interviews that I've seen of him, he has never retracted. Please provide me with such evidence. I have worked on his campaign for a couple of years now, so this accusation is new.

"Also, had there not been a boycott their sales may have been up 4%." -- LOL what? And how did you manage to pull that one out of your ass? Go back to your magic crystal ball and figure that one out again. Geez, why do you libs always twist things around. Target sales are UP, period. Your boycott was unsuccessful, period. Why? Because only those of you who are stupid enough to believe in it are the ones who are actually following through with it. The funny thing is that when Target showed me the numbers the highest increases in sales were IN LIBERAL AREAS. (CA, OR, WA, NY, NJ) ... hypocrisy strikes again.

"Pepa" is like so many others over the years who have posted on this site in search of attention. They post some trash, sit back and wait for the attention to roll in - just look at the latest postings from Pepa.(I assume they get no attention in their daily life; they turn to their "friend", the computer). Please just ignore Pepa and it will go away. This type of poster is not worth your energy.

Pepa is a libertarian (self-described) so why defend the Tea Partiers, few of whom agree much with libertarianism? Shannon Angle wants to bring back Prohibition (!), literally, and the TP candidate in Delaware wants to control masturbation, of all things. Hardly any of them (even Rand Paul) seem concerned about the money being wasted on the wars, or legalizing pot. They whine about Social Security but many of them seem to be on it already (prob. SSDI for that "mental" problem, heh).

Pepa's facts aren't quite right. Target sales were up under 2% (1.8%) - and it was mostly due to clothing and food. Hmm wonder who buys all those Target jeans in Sept, you know just before SCHOOL starts? Effects of the boycott are inconclusive, but also Target's performance was less than "expected" and among the big retailers they did worse than most of their competitors. Also, had there not been a boycott their sales may have been up 4%. Sorry Pepa, your "LOL's" don't cover your hostility and bogus facts. Better call your contacts at Target you big badass lawyer and get the briefs filed, you know instead of just sniffing them.

"Oh no! you mean the Talibaggers have the capacity to be racists..." LOL. You mean racist like La Raza (which means THE race) who attack white people all the time, or more like NAACP that also attacks whites for their color of skin. I wonder what you libs would say if whites organize groups with names like "THE RACE" and "National Association of White People" you will be all up in arms! LOL But even when the libs pretend to be pure, holier than thou, they had a hardcore e member of the KKK in the senate (Bob Byrd) and a senate leader who called their savior Obama a light skin negro... or how about that crazy liberal (exposed as such) who stabbed a cab driver because he was middle eastern... LOL. YET you are all so desperate to brand tea party people as racists that you are willing to infiltrate in one of our rallies for rand paul (youtube:"Joe Arnold Exposes The Racist Jack Conway Supporter Pretending To Be A Rand Paul Supporter"). Your it...

"It's sad that ever since the first George Bush, the Republican party has been hyjacked by the religious nuts and the lunatic fringe." -- What is even sadder is that thrice divorced hypocrite Newt Gingrich wrote that contract of America scheme only to break such contract the very next day. Now the GOProuders are saying that a new one is needed. Such insanity. Would you ever deal with somebody again after breaking the terms of a previous contract? Or better yet: Would you buy a car from the same dealer that sold you a lemon last year?
