Court Rebuked in Israeli Surrogacy Case

A gay Israeli man who earlier this year fathered twins with an Indian surrogate before being denied entry back into the country with his children was subjected to "hurtful" and homophobic treatment by an Israeli family court judge, a judicial ombudsman concluded.

A Jerusalem family court judge earlier this had denied a request by Dan Goldberg for a DNA paternity test of his children, required for obtaining Israeli citizenship, MSN India reports. Goldberg was subsequently stranded in Mumbai for months.

A judicial ombudsman called the judge's handling in the case "unnecessary, hurtful, and beyond the bounds of appropriate behavior."
