Chiro Gets 30 Years for Child Porn

MICHAEL MALACUSO X390

A chiropractor and part-time martial arts instructor has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for posing as a teenage boy and convincing other teenage boys to send him graphic photos and videos.

Michael Macaluso, 38, of Marietta, Ga., was convicted in a jury trial in December of getting at least two boys to send him graphic photos and videos of themselves, according to Marietta Patch.

According to court testimony, Macaluso would pose online as a teenage boy (sometimes gay, sometimes straight) or girl in an attempt to make friends with underage boys and convince them to send him the graphic materials.

He was arrested after one of the victims contacted police and said Macaluso had threatened to share the photos with his classmates. Another victim came forward, saying Macaluso had tried to convince him to film a gay sex scene, according to Project Q Atlanta.

When Macaluso was arrested in 2009, his computer contained thousands of images of underage men, some nude and some engaged in sex with each other.

Upon his release, Macaluso will be required to register as a sex offender.

In the email I received from the Advocate.com I was startled when I saw the headline "Chiro Gets 30 Years for Gay Porn". I was appalled when I clinked on the link and discovered that the man got 30 years for CHILD porn! The terms "Gay porn" and "Child porn" are not interchangeable! If a mainstream publication, i.e. "Str8 media", did this, or someone from a right wing blog, I would be angered but not really surprised. When a major gay publication does so, I am damn near apoplectic! Good going guys! Feed the right wing hate machine!

I also sent one. For a gay magazine they fell into an awfully 'straight' role.

I agree with other comments but Cody's right, if you under 18, you know what you're doing if you send naked photographs or yourself. The fact that you didn't know it was an older person is beside the issue. I don't think this is porn, or pedophilia. The Vatican that is pedophilia. And I still don't think that you are innocent because you are under 18. I'm 30 but I sure as hell wasn't innocent until "the age of consent." SEX IS HAPPENING AMERICA AND ABRAHAMIC RELIGIONS GET OVER IT. To bad we aren't this horrified over spousal and elderly abuse, bullying, rape, and emotional trauma.

I find it disappointing that after all the comments Advocte has not edited the title. They should have known better and they don't seem too concerned!

the headline of the article from which you sourced this story reads: "Child Pornographer Gets 30 Years" - see how it's done correctly? the first paragraph of that article, known as a 'lede' (pronounced lead) in the journalism business, reads: "A Marietta man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for coercing minors into producing sexually explicit images and videos of themselves and sending them to him over the Internet." - see how it's done correctly? at least you referenced the original article, so that's something, but still.

This title is misleading and offensive. This man was convicted for possession and creaion of CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, not gay pornography. There is a huge difference, and the fact that one of the leading GLBT publications does not make that distinction is deplorable. I might expect this coming from any other heteronormative news source, but not from The Advocate, of all places. PLEASE AMEND YOUR HEADLINE TO REFLECT THE ACCURATE FACTS.

This is so offensive. Please change the headline to specify that the case is dealing with CHILD PORNOGRAPHY and not gay porn.

This is not a Gay porn case, it child porn. Your headline is grossly false.
