Minnesota Wild forward Andrew Brunette, 37, has fired NHL agent Todd Reynolds, an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage who recently made antigay remarks, according to Sporting News.

Brunette, who cited the controversial comments as the reason for the drop, has replaced Reynolds with agent Don Baizely

New York Rangers forward Sean Avery declared his support of marriage equality in May, which prompted Reynolds to proclaim that it is "very sad to read Sean Avery's misguided support of same-gender 'marriage.' Legal or not, it will always be wrong."

Reynolds also touted his stance on the issue from his Twitter account, in addition to an interview with TSN 1050, a sports talk radio station in Canada.

During the 2010-2011 season, Brunette, a potential unrestricted free agent for the upcoming season, had 18 goals and 28 assists for Minnesota.
