Amid the uproar about Mormons baptizing the deceased into their faith by proxy, there's now an opportunity to convert deceased Mormons to gay.
It's highly unofficial, but at the website All Dead Mormons Are Now Gay, you can enter the name of a late Mormon of your choice, or find a name if you don't know any, and click "convert" to make the person "gay for eternity," the site promises.
The denomination, formally known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has long been known to perform what it calls "proxy baptisms" of non-Mormons after death, but it has come under particular criticism recently when it was revealed it had posthumously baptized Rosa Wiesenthal, a Jewish victim of the Holocaust and mother of famed Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal, and her husband, Asher Wiesenthal, who was killed in action in World War I. Proxy baptisms of people who died in the Holocaust are against LDS policy, but a church member nonetheless performed the procedure for the Wiesenthals. LDS officials have apologized and disciplined the member.
Also, London's Daily Mail has reported that the atheist father-in-law of a Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney was posthumously baptized in the Mormon faith several years ago. Edward Roderick Davies, the father of Romney's wife, Ann, disdained religion all his life, died in 1992, and "a ceremony was held to invite Mr. Davies into the Church of Latter Day Saints one year after he died," the paper reports. Whether or not such a ceremony took place has been the subject of speculation for years, but the Mail says recently revealed records confirm that it did.

She is a political junkie who thinks even the wonkiest details are fascinating, and she always loves to see political candidates who are groundbreaking in some way. She enjoys writing about other topics as well, including religion (she’s interested in what people believe and why), literature, theater, and film. Trudy is a proud “old movie weirdo” and loves the Hollywood films of the 1930s and ’40s above all others. Other interests include classic rock music (Bruce Springsteen rules!) and history. Oh, and she was a Jeopardy! contestant back in 1998 and won two games. Not up there with Amy Schneider, but Trudy still takes pride in this achievement.
