Floyd Mayweather Comes out in Support of Marriage Equality

Floyd Mayweather, the infamous boxer, came out today in support of marriage equality (partly in response to his long-time opponent Manny Pacquiao). According to TMZ, Pretty Boy Floyd released a statement on Twitter  that said, "I stand behind President Obama & support gay marriage. I'm an American citizen & I believe people should live their life the way they want."

The LGBT equality organization AllOut.org sent a thank you card to President Obama for his endorsement of marriage equality, and it had 75,000 signatures on it. The card was received on Tuesday by the White House's LGBT liaison, Gautam Raghavan.

Dee Coram, the gay son of Republican Colorado legislator Don Coram, says he's "let down" that his father killed a state civil unions bill. The younger Coram pleaded with his father to not use his power to doom the legislation — his father refused and the bill died by one vote in a committee. "Yesterday was the first and only time I ever called him and said, "Can you do this?" the 44-year-old Dee Coram, the policitian's only offspring, told The Denver Post. "He said, 'I love you, but absolutely not.'"

In a Wednesday profile, Politico examines the candidacy of Richard Tisei, an openly gay Republican vying for a Massachusetts congressional seat. Tisei, who served as minority leader in the Massachusetts senate and made an unsuccessful bid for lieutenant governor in 2010, has been endorsed by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, which supports openly LGBT political candidates on both sides of the aisle. Obama Threatens Veto If Domestic Violence Bill Excludes Gays

The White House on Tuesday threatened to veto the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) should protections for LGBT victims remain absent from the bill's language. The House version of the bill’s reauthorization “fails to include language that would prohibit discrimination against LGBT victims in VAWA grant programs,” according to a White House Statement of Administration Policy (SAP) that lists other perceived major flaws, including the removal of certain protections for immigrants and individuals living in subsidized housing.
