Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough says that he is not gay, but he finds the rumors about himself so convincing that he almost played a gay character opposite Courtney Cox on the ABC series Cougar Town.

Hough talked about his reputation with E! Online.

"It would have been perfect," said Hough, according to E! "With all the rumors going around, I thought it would be really funny because it's just not true. But I was like, You know what? If that's what you want to see."

Unfortunately, his DWTS schedule prevented him from taking the role.

Tonight, Hough makes his singing debut on DWTS with Mark Ballas.

He would be great if he could do the role. He'd be perfect, I wonder would he be a masculine type or feminine type of gay guy if he got the role.
