Why Wasn't This the Year of Lance Bass?

Lance Bass on coming out under fire -- from gays like you.

He should be the out celebrity gays continually clamor for. At just 28, Lance Bass already has an impressive and varied list of accomplishments: a record-shattering stint with the band ’N Sync, a memoir on The New York Times best-seller list, a role singing and dancing on Broadway, and a Human Rights Campaign award. Hell, the kid even endured several grueling months of training -- plus surgery -- to win NASA’s endorsement for a trip to the International Space Station.

So why do some of you -- and you know who you are -- see him on the cover of this magazine and scoff? Is it because he’s “just a pop star” -- as though that’s a genre of music that gay people have suddenly rejected? Is it because his coming-out interview in People magazine convinced you that he must be a self-loathing homosexual? Or is he just not your type?

Lance says: . It’s a touchy community because it’s the last civil rights movement we have left here in America. Lance, while I commend you for coming out, I have to let you know you are incorrect with your above statement. The GLBT movement is the SECOND TO LAST last civil rights movement we have here in America.... The VERY LAST movement is that of: ATHEISTS, AGNOSTICS AND FREETHINKERS. Once we have full civil rights as well, then this country will truly exemplify what it was founded upon...democracy and freedom and justice for ALL,not just those who believe in a "god".

Give me a break. Why do people have to hate on such an amazing man?!?! I am a straight woman who honestly was quite crushed when he came out. I loved him for years for who he was and how caring and kind he truly seems. If the gays don't want him, then the straights will GLADLY take him back. Atleast, I would. LOL.
