Capote wins USC Scripter Award

Capote has won the 18th annual University of
Capote has won the 18th annual University of
Southern California Scripter Award for Best Adapted
Screenplay of the year, reports Variety. The
prize goes to both the screenwriter and the author of
the original material, so both Dan Futterman and the
author of the biography of the same name, Gerald
Clarke, will be feted at the February 11 awards ceremony on
the USC campus. Forty-six films were eligible this
year, including fellow finalists Brokeback
Mountain, Syriana, The Constant Gardener, and
A History of Violence. Previous winners
include Million Dollar Baby, The Hours, and
