Students from
across the nation will join public health officials and
corporate leaders on April 29 in New York City to
participate in the “Young Global Leaders
Summit: Fighting AIDS.” The summit will mark the
five-year anniversary of the Declaration of Commitment on
HIV/AIDS, a set of goals adopted by the United Nations
General Assembly to stop the spread of AIDS. The
summit, held on the New York University campus, will
highlight speakers from YouthAIDS, AIDemocracy, the Open
Society, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS,
and Kiehl’s Since 1851. The summit also will
educate participants on a number of new ways that corporate
and pop culture leaders are fighting AIDS. The day
will end with the launch of a national grassroots HIV
awareness campaign, with more than 1,000 students
taking to the streets of New York City to heighten awareness
that AIDS continues to be a global pandemic facing youth.
