honored for
Craig Miller,
founder of the nation’s first AIDS Walk in New York
City and San Francisco 's AIDS Walk in 1987, was
honored for his AIDS activism on Sunday with a
proclamation from San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom. The
proclamation was presented during the opening ceremonies of
the 20th annual AIDS Walk in the city. AIDS Walks
organized by MZA Events nationwide have raised more
than $250 million for AIDS organizations around the
country. Sunday’s San Francisco AIDS Walk brought in
nearly $3.8 million for the San Francisco AIDS
Foundation and 43 other AIDS organizations in the Bay
Area. More than 25,000 people participated in the
fund-raiser. (The Advocate)
