An American
serviceman who pleaded guilty Tuesday to having sex for
money on a military-themed gay Web site was sentenced
to three months in prison and will be discharged from
the Army. Pfc. Wesley Mitten, 21, pleaded
guilty to sodomy, conduct detrimental to the Army, and
cocaine use. He is one of seven soldiers from the 82nd
Airborne Division accused of appearing on the site.
Two other paratroopers, Pvt. Kagen Mullen and
Pfc. Richard Ashley, have also pleaded guilty and
were sentenced to prison. Like Mitten, they were also
ordered to forfeit two thirds of their pay and received bad
conduct discharges.
Mitten, the son of a career military man, told
Judge Colonel Grant S. Jaquith that he did if for the
money, earning $6,000 in three months.
Army prosecutors said Mitten helped recruit
other members of his unit and that four other soldiers
received punishment outside the military court system.
Division officials said the Army has discharged one
paratrooper and has recommended discharges for the
other three. (Sirius OutQ News)
