Ten percent of
gay men in London have tested positive for HIV, according
to a study by the British Health Protection Agency, and 4%

of gay men across the United Kingdom carry the
virus.
The study, which
will be released this week, is also expected to
show that almost 8,000 people were diagnosed with the
disease in 2006, increasing the total number of people
infected in the U.K. to 70,000.
One British
government source told The Independent that
doctors worry that young people no longer see the
virus as a killer and are practicing unsafe sex. (The
