A gay Tucson,
Ariz., man who was beaten in an antigay attack in early
June has still not filed an official complaint with the
police out of fear or retaliation, Tucson’s
KVOA TV reports. The man was reportedly lured from a
gay bar and into a nearby car by three men.
According to a
friend, the men pointed a gun at the victim’s head
and drove him to a local park, where he was beaten,
sexually assaulted, and robbed. The victim spent three
days in the hospital.
“Since he
won’t file an official report on this, we
don’t have an active case,” Tucson
officer Mark Robinson told the TV station. “However,
we have been made aware this occurred.”
Robinson added that there may be other victims who are
afraid to come forward. (The Advocate)
