Barack Obama
supporter and openly gay actor Alan Cumming is hoping he can
become a U.S. citizen in time to register to vote in the
upcoming presidential election, reports New
York magazine's Intelligencer blog.
The Scottish
actor told reporters he is taking the U.S. citizenship
test in October because he thinks Obama needs every vote he
can get.
"I’ve got
the questions and the answers," he said about the
test at the Google and Vanity Fair party at the
Democratic National Convention in Denver. "Now all
I’ve got to do is memorize them. It’s
just like learning a lot of lines, so I kind of think that
as an actor, I’ll be better prepared than
most."
Cumming was also
in attendance for Obama's acceptance speech at Mile High
Stadium.
"Tonight was the
first night I've ever waved an American flag," he said
after the speech. "It was great." (Michelle Garcia, The
Advocate)
