Ron Paul Supporters Mourn Death of Gay Campaign Chair

Activists belonging to the libertarian wing of the Republican Party continue to mourn the loss of Kent Snyder, a 49-year-old gay political operative credited with propelling the presidential campaign of Ron Paul into a national, grassroots movement that raised more than $35 million.

Activists belonging to the libertarian wing of the Republican Party continue to mourn the loss of Kent Snyder, a 49-year-old gay political operative credited with propelling the presidential campaign of Ron Paul into a national, grassroots movement that raised more than $35 million.

Snyder, who served as Paul’s campaign chair, died of pneumonia on June 26 after being hospitalized for about two months.

Though his death was reported in The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post, his sexual orientation was never mentioned.

On his own website, Paul called Snyder’s death a “great loss” to the libertarian movement.

“Kent poured every ounce of his being into our fight for freedom,” Paul said. “He will always hold a place in my heart and in the hearts of my family. We deeply mourn his loss.”

Paul praised Snyder for playing a key role in advancing libertarian causes and noted that Snyder began his association with him in 1987, when he worked on Paul’s first run for president.

“Over the next 20 years, we worked together on countless projects in the name of freedom,” Paul said on his site. “It was Kent, more than anyone else, who urged me to run again for president” in 2008. (The Advocate)

The only time the sexual orientation of another individual is relevant to me is if I hope to engage in intimacy with that individual. Since I'm a happily married man, that means NEVER is another person's orientation relevant to me. This obsession with the sexual orientation of complete strangers is the only issue I have with gay people. Just stop it. This obsession is far more perverted than any physical acts you may engage in in private.

regarding the sexual orientation it seem that who or what gender you choose to have sex with is relevant to a large amount of voters. This reads to me like yet another stab at Paul and his liberty champaign.I find it funny that a man like Ken would be remembered as RON PAUL's gay campaign chair. considering all the other things he was better known for. by the way have you seen the news everything that is happening right now with the banks, Ron Paul and the paultards have been warning about this for a very long time so love to tell you, we paultards told you so. No hard feeling though. Just want you to know there is room in the liberty movement of even slow learners like you

The Advocate is one of the longest running publications for the gay community. They were reporting the death of a gay man involved in a Presidential campaign. I doubt they'll be retracting their story, because a bunch of moronic Paultards (who don't know what they're talking about) took offense. Don't you have anything better to do like listen to Alex Jones or play World of Warcraft?

kent wasn't gay. This is crap. Even if he was, why would it make the story of his death, relevant? Being gay, to most people, is a private issue. And to report something, een if it was true, wouldn't be something they might want to get out. Openly gay people, who parade their sexuality, usually do it in very offencive way. As if they were better than straight people. Because they have the so-called guts to admit it. I, who is straight, find this sort of behavior to be offencive to me and my parental responsibility. I teach my kids to read and get involved in politics. Especially about political education issue. I have gotten them involved in Ron Paul and the Campaign for liberty. They recieve email alerts on Ron Paul. And they recieved this story. And, as it was ment to be, took the focus off Ron Paul and his fight, to something homosexual. Which has nothing to do with what Ron Paul stands and fights for.

I wonder how rich his family is going to be after they sue everyone who is reporting erroneously that Kent is GAY? I hope they hit you with a huge libel suit.
