Perez Alleges Assault by will.i.am

Gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton claimed that he was punched in the face in Toronto early on Monday morning by Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am, reports TMZ.com, though by late in the day it appeared that the band's manager had taken responsibility for the incident

Gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton claimed that he was punched in the face in Toronto early on Monday morning by Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am, reports TMZ.com , though by late in the day it appeared that the band's manager had taken responsibility for the incident.

The attack, which occurred after the MuchMusic Video Awards, left Hilton bleeding and Tweeting. One of his numerous tweets about the incident said, "I was assaulted by Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

However, will.i.am denied that he assaulted Hilton, and claimed in a video on Dipdive that Hilton called him a "faggot" during an exchange at the after party about Hilton's lack of respect for Fergie, a fellow member of the Black Eyed Peas.

TMZ.com posted video of the altercation.

Early this morning, Polo Molina, the general manager of the Black Eyed Peas, turned himself into Toronto police as the assailant.

No one has permission to hit anyone. Period. Love him or hate him, Perez Hilton is doing his job. I am 57, a Gay American, I have met so many Gay people, we are brash and feisty, that is what Hilton portrays. Think of all the hateful and judgmental comments posted here. Some of you are angered by seeing yourself in his behavior. It is show business, and we all love to watch.

I don't think there is anything wrong with saying you would like to hit someone as long as it stays verbal. It is just venting. Hitting someone for real, that is what I'm concerned about. Aggression and the challenge of dealing with it is part of our being. I've dealt with many kinds of people in my life and you can't reach out to everyone by wanting to discuss it or preaching love because they simply wouldn't comprehend or are opposed to it - sometimes you just have to accept that part of our world. I've been beaten up many times, because I'm eitehr gay or not gay enough (yep, that too), but always remained passive-defensive. It is hard, but I strongly belive in it. But trust me, people both like Perez or males behaving like apes demonstrating their muscles make me want to gag and vomit and slam doors.

The incident is just show business, but these comments indicate too many people still think it's okay to hit someone if you can find a way to rationalize it by their actions. I'm not concerned about Ms. Hilton; I'm concerned about these ignorant and dangerous comments, which are as sad a commentary on society as Hilton's useless blog.

Perez is a waste of human air space and an enormous embarrassment to the gay community. When you spend your life mocking women, other gays and generally trying to smear peoples reputations he deserves what has happened to him. He is garbage. Now just wait for some WeHo moron to make him grand marshal of the Pride parade next year. If he is I will have my rotten tomatoes ready to smack his disgusting face with!

Brian, the Black Eyed Peas manager turned himself in, so that's pretty much an admission of guilt. And for those who say Perez used "fighting words", just remember what a slippery slope that can be. Who decides which words are "fight-worthy"? Not even the most reasonable people can agree which words cross the line to the point that violence is acceptable, which is why all reasonable people need to have zero tolerance for violence except in the case of self-defense from violent acts, not words. This is not intended to be viewed as support for the despicable Perez Hilton, but even the worst people don't deserve to be hit for what they say. Otherwise, we'll all end up hitting each other and claiming it was justified by "fighting words".
