Poll: Teens, Tweens for Marriage Equality

A new poll from Pangea Media shows that 75% of teens and tweens (youths between the ages of 9 and 12) support marriage equality, although 79% of respondents said they were unaware of President Barack Obama's position on same-sex marriage.

The poll tracked the gay rights attitudes and preferences of more than 3,400 young users of Pangea, an online quiz company. Eighty-three percent of respondents identified themselves as straight, 11% called themselves gay, and 6% said they were not sure of their sexual orientation.

Some other findings:

- 55% of respondents said being gay is something people choose, compared with 26% who said that people are born gay.

- 57% said that they believe gay people are victims of discrimination.

- 62% said they would not feel uncomfortable around a same-gender friend who revealed they were gay, compared to 25% who said they would feel strange.

- 78% said that gay students should be allowed to bring a date to the prom.

Bruce: Gay Theology is so sophomoric. Eats as sins are not comparable to homosexuality as sins. You need to get to a Bible study class, a real one that is, and not keep doing the Charles Manson self interpretation!

This God's image line used to justify, " There is no such thing as sin and hell does not exsist. .." is the great hope of serial sinners. If you truly believe that line, you can do anything, so get started, as you've barely scratched the hedonistic surface. But it's absurd! Reminds me of a guy I used to know who really was of the atheist mindset. We read an article about a jetliner coming down out of the sky, and it taking about 3 minutes to come down. We asked everyone present what they would do. Would they pray? Would they think of family? Then this guys turn, to which he said on the way down, "I'd grab every tit in the plane!". Hilarious and at least true to his morality based on his professed morality, or lack of it! But just not reality! Like my wise 5th Fleet Navy Father used to say, "there are no atheists on a sinking ship!", and you can be sure all the sins of life come to bear all the harsher if you have not been sorry for any!

And let me tell you all humanity better hope that gay is not found to be genetic. Because if there's ever a genetic code and a test for that genetic code, people will simply abort any gay unborn children like they do now for all kinds of unborn babies that they don't think are "perfect", ie down syndrome babies being aborted, or what they wanted even, ie unborn girls getting aborted. With that kind of stuff going on how many parents do you think will keep a "born gay" baby?? In fact, thinking out of the box, to protect gays organizations like GLAAD should demand all research being done to identify a gay gene be stopped, or it's genocide via unborn "born gay" abortion!!

Stephen - That's total BS. You say, " .... However, most of it has found a link between biology and being gay ... " There's more buffaloing. Biology includes Environment and all environmental factors. Thus defacto your statement tries to buffalo readers into thinking people are born gay, but any reference to biology is environmental in nature not genetic coded! Oddly enough, your take supports my take. Thanks! But facts are there's NOT ONE reputable study that says gays are born. NOT ONE! A few goof science gay agenda crappola, yeah, sure! But nothing serious! There might even be the oddball person that IS INDEED born gay. But the overwhelming evidence is that gay is a choice against environmental factors, most factors hitting early on! Quit making excuses for yourself, and now that you took the first step to come out keep coming and start to find out why. Dig deep, don't give up, trust that God will tell you, and you will find it! Then iknowing, it's simply your choice!

PJR, My Friend you are way misinformed and wrong! The research to date is not conclusive and more needs to be done. However, most of it has found a link between biology and being gay...at least for gay males. There are some social factors, like birth order, etc. that have been found to influence it as well. That is where they are now on this. So Im not sure where you are getting your information. In fact, the most recent research found a possible genetic link that on the one hand makes females of a family more fertile, but the same gene also makes males of the same family more likely to be gay.

Step away from the Bible, please, just for a moment. Even God would invite you to get some fresh data, dude, PJR! I mean no disrespect. Who would choose a life of being hated & rejected? We are all God's children and we were made in God's image. There is no such thing as sin and hell does not exsist. Oh, we can see how much fun religionists are having with hell & sin, but there ain't no such thing! God wouldn't throw God into hell. We're all one with God, even Jesus told us that. One with, not one less or one more, but one with God. We're all going to Heaven when we leave here, all us us, you'll see! Peace.

PJR, you speak carelessly. In fact, there IS scientific evidence that homosexuality has genetic causation; but, it has not been PROVEN conclusively. However, its a good thing that you do not claim there is ANY evidence favoring those who say homosexuality is a choice, because there is NONE! Their claims are based on arbitrary interpretation of bible verses which say, for example, that homosexuality is an abomination. Yet, they ignore other bible verses in the same books warning against wearing garments made of two different kinds of cloth, or that eating shellfish is abomination, etc. Didn't those prohibitions come from God too? If anceint scribes got the later wrong, maybe they got the anti-homosexual verses wrong too. You can't have it both ways! Sometimes these folks cite therapy which is claimed to cure homosexuality as evidence, but this "research" does not meet professional standards of scientific practice and has been discredited by the American Psychiatric Association.

Bruce: Wrong on just about all counts. First, not only is there no scientific evidence that gay is inborn or genetic, but indeed the more research that is done the LESS LIKELY it is becoming that inborn/genetic is to be the cause. Things are definitely going the other way research wise. Second, there IS sin! Frankly, going the muddy road is sinful for either homosexuals or heterosexuals. Now nobody is saying there has to be sex police to stop that, but it is sinful. Heteros have no problem calling that vice a vice, yet for some guilt driven reason gays just can't deal and want to rewrite the rules. Even to the point of redefining Marriage with all kinds of ludicrous gay agenda blather. Look, nobodies perfect, but it's annoying as hell when imperfect people want to change the rules to make their imperfections somehow the noble goal to chase. THAT IS THE PROBLEM with the gay agenda today. Just learn to live with who you are, without redefining who you aren't!!

Larisa has got it right, it doesn't matter if sexual orientation is a matter of choice or not. Of course, the church groups say its a choice, but that's just a baseless claim to justify their interpretation of the bible, so they can condemn gay & lesbian as sinful. Then we take the bait and cite scientific evidence that its not a choice, but inherited ("see its not our fault!"). And though that's been partially sucessful so far and will likely be conclusively proven with continued research, why the heck should we care at all? Doing that implicitly accepts the claim that there's something wrong with gay\lesbian. There's not! And that doesn't depend on whether sexual orientation is due to choice or genetics or anything else. We don't even need to respond to that ignorant idea.
