Fifteen openly LGBT
candidates have been endorsed by the Gay and Lesbian Victory
Fund, including Palm Springs, Calif., mayor Steve
Pougnet, who is running for a House of Representatives
seat.

Pougnet, who is running for a House of Representatives
seat.
Pougnet could be the
fourth openly gay member of Congress if successful against
Republican incumbent Mary Bono Mack in the 2010 election.
According to the Victory Fund, Pougnet is a strong proponent of
alternative energy solutions, eco-friendly technology, and job
creation. He also has worked with Lambda Legal, the
Family Equality Council, the Human Rights Campaign, and
Equality California.
