Marina's work boils down masculine cultural ideas to a few bold strokes in a variety of mediums.

Hernan Marina, born in Buenos Aires, works with iconographic and simplistic representations of body. Since 2000, he has shown his work in Latin America and Europe. His series of gymnasts, divers, workers, and bondage/SM are a metaphor of contemporary society. Sexuality comes together with power, standardization, and social control. Marina creates his work in different media and techniques: drawing, sculpture, carved silhouettes, and space interventions. Last year, he had two solo shows at Mirta Demare (Rotterdam) and Ivo Kamm (Zurich). In 2014 he will be showing at Arte BA (U Turn Curatorial Space) and Espacio Fundacion Telefonica de Buenos Aires.

For more about his work see his web site and these galleries: Ivo Kam, Mirta Demare.
