Outfest extravaganza “Platinum Oasis” begins July 14

As part of Outfest, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, arts stars Ron Athey (www.RonAthey.com) and Vaginal Davis (www.VaginalDavis.com) will be producing “Platinum Oasis,” a self-styled “around-the-clock clairvoyant mega event.” “Platinum Oasis” will take place at the Coral Sands Motel, 1730 N. Western Ave., Los Angeles. Featured artists include performance artist Ann Magnuson; East Los Angeles emcee El Cholo; Lydia Lunch, the first lady of harsh; underground filmmaker Bruce LaBruce, who will conduct a photo session; and provocateuse Kembra Pfahler performing her “Wall of Vaginas.” There will also be opportunities to participate in a snuff flick, get psychic readings, indulge in pansexual public play, and sign liability waivers.
