Alan Cumming to star in Zero Effect pilot

Ambisexual actor Alan Cumming will star as private eye Daryl Zero in a pilot for Zero Effect, a TV series based on the 1998 film starring Bill Pullman and Ben Stiller, Variety reports. Jake Kasdan, who wrote and directed the original film before moving on to direct such acclaimed TV series as Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, will direct and executive-produce the pilot. Warner Bros. and Castle Rock are producing the episode for NBC.
