U.S. Pop Idol coming to Fox

Variety reports that Pop Idol, the popular U.K. talent search program that made a star of out singer Will Young in England, is headed for the United States. Fox will air 22 episodes of a U.S. Pop Idol, beginning in June. The show's winner will receive a recording contract and a cash prize. The U.K. Pop Idol, which aired on ITV1, was a ratings smash and has thus far yielded two hit singles from its finalists, with a third out this week.
