Tim Burton will direct Columbia Pictures' adventure feature Big Fish for Oscar-winning gay producers Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen (American Beauty), says The Hollywood Reporter. Steven Spielberg had at one point expressed interest in directing but left the project to make Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can. "Bruce and I couldn't be more excited about Tim Burton; he's a genius," said Jinks. Based on Daniel Wallace's novel Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions, the film tells the story of a son trying to piece together the life of his dying father by re-creating the stories his father has told him.
