All-star cast of musicians to record Hedwig tribute album to benefit Harvey Milk High School

The New York Post reports that out musicians Rufus Wainwright, Sleater-Kinney, Fred Schneider, Bob Mould, and John Cameron Mitchell will record an album of songs from Mitchell's Hedwig and the Angry Inch as a fund-raiser for the Hetrick-Martin Institute, which manages New York City's controversial new Harvey Milk High School. Yoko Ono, Cyndi Lauper and the Minus 5, Frank Black, They Might Be Giants, the Breeders, and Jonathan Richman will also participate. Mitchell says the performers hope to raise $300,000 for gay youth through the album and through a benefit concert at Roseland on November 8. Welcomed by many, the high school has been the object of criticism from all ends of the political spectrum.
