Alan Cumming comes out--with a new fragrance

Out actor Alan Cumming (X-Men 2) is taking the next step in promoting his stylish and individual self by launching his own scent, Cumming the Fragrance. "I'm not the most obvious person you'd think of to be a fragrance spokesperson," the Scottish actor told Women's Wear Daily's online site. The scent is the creation of Christopher Brosius, who founded the Demeter Fragrance Library and now produces his own perfume line. "Alan's always been an extremely good client, and making this fragrance was the perfect scenario," said Brosius. "It's very smart, witty, amusing, versatile, and very sexy--like Alan himself." The fragrance will be sold in a transparent square bottle, with the actor's name silk-screened in white, and will retail for $69 for 3.4 ounces. Brosius and Cumming will not use traditional advertising, preferring to use launch parties to promote their product. "I'm forcing friends to wear the fragrance for now," Cumming said.
