New DVDs include
black trailers, lesbian shorts, and Four Weddings

Several new DVDs of queer interest debut on Tuesday, January 31. Queer archivists Jenni Olson (Homo Promo) and Karl Knapper compiled Afro Promo (Other Cinema), a funny and provocative collection of trailers for African-American film released between 1946 and 1976. Wolfe Video's The Ultimate Lesbian Short Film Festival features 10 acclaimed new featurettes featuring Guinevere Turner, Moira Kelly, Silas Howard, Kip Pardue, and many more. Romantic comedy hit Four Weddings and a Funeral (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) gets a Deluxe Edition reissue that includes hours of special features. (In one interview out actor Simon Callow reveals that he received a note from Sir Ian McKellen telling him that Callow's gay character in the film, Gareth, did more for gays than Philadelphia.)
