Out actor Alan
Cumming, currently appearing on Broadway in a revival of
The Threepenny Opera, is bringing his role as
Nightcrawler in the X-Men series to a new video
game. Activision's X-Men: The Official Game is
not only bringing in one of the writers of the upcoming
X-Men: The Last Stand sequel to make sure that
the game ties in with the films, but producers have also
garnered Cumming, Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Patrick
Stewart (Professor Charles Xavier), and Shawn Ashmore
(Iceman) to provide likenesses and voices for their
characters.
"When you plan on
producing a game that features characters that the
fans have come to know well in film, one of the things you
must address is having your audience perceive your
characters as 'genuine,'" Activision executive
producer Scott Bandy told The Hollywood Reporter.
"One of the best ways to ensure this is to work with
the same talent that has brought the character to life
in the films." The game is set for a May 16 release.
