Mudge Boy and sexy British cinema debut on DVD

Ron Peck's Nighthawks and Strip Jack Naked broke ground in Britain

Several new DVDs of queer interest hit stores Tuesday, May 9. The acclaimed drama The Mudge Boy (Strand Releasing), starring Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door, Lords of Dogtown) and Richard Jenkins (Six Feet Under) was written and directed by Michael Burke and based on his short film Fishbelly White, which won a Special Jury Award at the 1999 Sundance Festival.

Water Bearer Films is releasing two landmark films from British gay filmmaker Ron Peck: Nighthawks (1978) deals with a schoolteacher seeking more from gay life than one-night stands, and the film's semisequel, Strip Jack Naked (1991), looks at Peck's struggles both to make his earlier film and to live as a gay man in late-20th-century Britain.
