"Spirit pop" duo
and Advocate cover boys Jason & DeMarco
will appear Saturday, October 7 at the annual "Gay
Days" celebration at the Disneyland theme parks in Anaheim,
Calif., organizers announced last week. The singers will
unveil some of their latest dance mixes as part of the
"Kingdom" dance party scheduled for Saturday night at
the House of Blues in the Downtown Disney complex.
Headlining the
party is the previously announced Jennifer Hudson, the
American Idol finalist who won a coveted featured
role in the new film version of DreamGirls.
Hudson is expected to sing at least one song from the film.
The "Kingdom"
dance party will be hosted by Alec Mapa and Wilson
Cruz. Also appearing, organizers recently announced, will be
Glenn Scarpelli (One Day at a Time), Calpernia
Addams, and Road Rules lasses Rachel and
Veronica. "Kingdom" is one of two celebrity-studded parties
sponsored by Gay Days Anaheim. A welcome party on Friday,
October 6, called "Wonderland" will take place at
Brennan's Jazz Kitchen.
The parties are
part of a three-day unofficial event, not endorsed by the
Walt Disney Co., that brings as many as 30,000 or more
LGBT people to the Anaheim theme parks, gathering on
Saturday, October 7, in Disneyland and on Sunday,
October 8, in Disney's California Adventure.
Additional events for bears, parents, youths, and women are
planned, along with scavenger hunts, film screenings,
group meals, and other events. Those attending
typically wear red shirts to be visible among other
park guests. For information on the full itinerary for the
weekend or to buy tickets to the parties, go to GayDaysAnaheim.com.
