Glee star Chris Colfer will make his film debut in the indie coming-of-age comedy Struck by Lightning, to be shot next summer.
According to Variety, the film has been set up with David Permut, who directed the Michael Cera film Youth in Revolt. Colfer wrote the script for the film, which is described as a coming-of-age comedy in the style of the late John Hughes, who directed classics like The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink.
Variety reports that the film will be shot during the Glee hiatus next summer. Permut will attach a director and more cast members before approaching financiers after January.
Glenn Rigberg, who manages Colfer, will be the executive producer, and Steve Longi, vice president of production for Permut, will coproduce the film.
