8. VOD: Loose Cannons

A man returns to his home to come out to his conservative family, but his plans are ruined by his gay brother in this bright, sometimes affecting Italian comedy. The film is the first release in Focus Features' 10 Years of Pride, a collection that also includes Brokeback Mountain, Far From Heaven, The Kids Are All Right, Milk, My Summer of Love, and Pariah, all of which will be available On Demand throughout the month of June.


7. MUSIC: Anxiety, Ladyhawke; The Absence, Melody Gardot; Our Version of Events, Emile Sandé

Anxiety, the entrancing sophomore album, from electro-rocker Ladyhawke, includes the single “Black, White, and Blue.” Gentle bossa nova beats complement Gardot’s sultry vocals on the chanteuse’s third album, The Absence. Hairspray’s Scott Wittman conceived and directs this telling of the tumultuous story of pioneering drag superstar Jackie Curtis, immortalized in Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side,” personified at different stages in life by a cast of four (including the equally magnificent Mx.
