9. DVD: Girl/Girl Scene season 1
Girl/Girl Scene season 1 is available on DVD, so you can now bring Tucky Williams's steamy, sultry Web series right to your flat-screen and watch the entire first season back-to-back. The series is unlike any other, delving deep into the minds and hearts, and between the sheets, of unapologetically queer women living in middle America. But underlying the dramatic plotlines is an important story exploring the intoxicating extremes of modern-day life, love, and ladies. Watch the latest episodes at www.GirlGirlScene.com.

Halloweenx633

Gay Christmas is here! Will you be Uncle Poodle for the big night? How about attempting Ann Romney's horse? Whatever costume you choose, there's a plethora of street parties and parades where you can show it off. Some of the best are in West Hollywood, Dallas, New York, New Orleans, and Key West, Fla.

7. THEATER: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
The recently opened Broadway revival of great gay playwright Edward Albee's most famous work is "the first necessary ticket of the fall Broadway season," according to The New York Times. This production, coming on the 50th anniversary of the play's Broadway premiere, originated two years ago at Chicago's esteemed Steppenwolf Theatre and traveled to Washington, D.C., before arriving on the Great White Way. Tony- and Pulitzer-winning playwright Tracy Letts (August: Osage County) makes his Broadway acting debut in the role of George, and veteran Chicago thespian Amy Morton is Martha, his partner in marriage, alcohol abuse, and psychological warfare. Booth Theatre, through February 24.

6. BOOK: The Paternity Test by Michael Lowenthal
Pregnancy can make any complicated relationship even more complicated. Michael Lowenthal creates a peek into a gay couple's attempt to save a marriage by moving away from the big city and making a baby with an alluring married surrogate. Just be warned: It's a page-turner thanks to its realistic characters and a situation that might hit close to home for some.

5. TELEVISION: The Baby Wait, Logo
Logo's newest reality series, The Baby Wait, takes an intimate look into the little-chronicled period when adoptive parents have custody of their new child but the birth parents can still decide to keep the baby. The debut episode, which airs on Logo on Tuesday at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, features a pair of gay dads adopting a teenager's baby girl, viewing the open adoption from the perspective of both the adoptive parents and the birth mother. The series is touching, honest, and heartfelt, and shines a realistic, compassionate light on one of the myriad ways LGBT families are created.

4. MUSIC: Azari & III, Azari & III
This debut album from this Toronto breakout band is definitely worth a spin; the group's moody electronica was described as deliciously "hedonistic" by The Guardian. A North American tour starts on Halloween in Chicago and wraps up in L.A. November 10.

3. TELEVISION: Because of an Earlier Incident, Here TV
Because of an Earlier Incident, Here TV's newest anthology series, premieres tonight on television and online. 2. MUSIC: Tinsel and Lights, Tracey Thorn
It's not an Everything But the Girl reunion, but it's still good to have Tracey Thorn back, even if it's for a holiday album. Her Everything collaborator Ben Watt guests on guitar and piano while Adele's drummer pitches in. Thankfully, the modern Joni Mitchell classic "River" makes the cut.

Mapplethorpex633

1. ART: "Robert Mapplethorpe: XYZ" and "In Focus: Robert Mapplethorpe"
It may not have been the "perfect moment" for the late gay photographer in 1990, when an exhibit by that name led to a Cincinnati museum curator's obscenity trial, but his work has found a friendlier time and place in 2012, with concurrent shows at two of Los Angeles's leading cultural institutions. "XYZ," at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, represents three areas of Mapplethorpe's work: gay S/M images, floral still lifes, and portraits of nude African-American men. "In Focus," at the Getty Center, has more nudes and still lifes as well as self-portraits and the iconic image of his Just Kids lover, Patti Smith. The exhibitions celebrate the two museums' joint acquisition of a broad selection of Mapplethorpe's photos. Both shows opened this week and run through March 24.
