3. ART: “Gays in the Military: How America Thanked Me”
In photographs and interviews, Vincent Cianni has documented lives of service members affected by homophobia, both under “don’t ask, don’t tell” and the stricter ban that preceded it. The exhibit, which first appeared in New York in 2011, is now up at Imperfect Gallery in Philadelphia, where it continues through March 2. The participants’ photos and stories will appear in a book of the same name, due out next year.
