2. DVD: How to Survive a Plague
When you're watching the Oscars this Sunday, pay special attention to the Best Documentary category, where David France's AIDS documentary How to Survive A Plague will square off against frontrunner Searching for Sugar Man, a Swedish-British film about two South Africans searching for their musical hero. But even if Plague doesn't walk away with the golden statue on Sunday, it has secured a place in the minds and hearts of LGBT and AIDS activists for its compelling narrative following the creation of ACT UP and the Treatment Action Group as these brave groups demanded the funding, visibility, and research to turn AIDS from a death sentence into a manageable condition. Bring the Plague home when How to Survive a Plague hits DVD on Tuesday, February 26. Watch the trailer below.
