Director Steven Soderbergh says his Liberace biopic, Behind the Candelabra, is airing on HBO because film studios rejected it for being "too gay."

Soderbergh, who is retiring from directing, tells The New York Post he was astounded by reactions from studio executives. 

"Nobody would make it. We went to everybody in town. They said it was too gay," Soderbergh told the paper. "And this is after Brokeback Mountain, by the way, which is not as funny as this movie. I was stunned. It made no sense to any of us."

After Perez Hilton got involved in a Twitter war between rappers Azealia Banks and Angel Haze, the former artist hurled a gay slur before backtracking.

Banks and Haze were sparring after the former rapper took those to task who claim to be New Yorkers, but weren't born in the city. Hilton eventually called Banks's tweets "hurtful" and "pathetic." Banks, who's described herself as bi before, went on a rampage against Hilton, eventually calling the blogger a "messy fa**ot."
