New York approves $8.7 million for HIV prevention programs
The New York City council and Mayor Michael Bloomberg have agreed to boost spending on HIV prevention programs for minority communities by $3.7 million, bringing the total allocated for such HIV outreach to $8.7 million for the current fiscal year, Gay City News reports. About $500,000 of that total will be allocated to about 40 churches and religious groups in communities of color for HIV outreach programs, according to city officials.
