Steven Raffanti,
MD, an associate professor of medicine at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center and chief medical officer of the
Comprehensive Care Center in Nashville, will receive
the American Association of HIV Medicine's 2005
Emerging Leader Award at next month's annual meeting
of the Infectious Diseases Society of America in San
Francisco. The award cites his work in establishing
the care center, Tennessee's largest outpatient
HIV clinic, as well as his work in developing a statewide
AIDS Centers of Excellence program, which currently
cares for two thirds of the state's HIV
patients. The Comprehensive Care Center in Nashville
provides HIV care for more than 2,000 current patients and
has cared for more than 5,000 patients since its
founding in 1994.
