Labor of Love; Labor of Life

I would like to commend The Advocate for carrying the article "Labor of Love," which introduced us to a transgender man who is now pregnant. Other media and tabloids have chosen to pick up the story and give it a negative and skeptical spin and even to publish a "pre-T" photo of the man. Not only is this irresponsible reporting, it's plain tacky. This is not the first time a transman has temporarily stopped taking testosterone in order to bear a child, but given the hostility of most media, does anyone wonder why this is virtually unheard of? I wholeheartedly encourage The Advocate to do a follow-up story with Thomas Beatie. This is an opportunity to educate the public on the vast array of trans experiences and the amazing abiltity of the human body!
