Silver Lake Film Festival begins September 16
The weeklong Silver Lake Film Festival launches Sunday, September 16, in Los Angeles. Among the events of note: the West Coast premiere of Elvira's Haunted Hills, starring gay icon Cassandra "Elvira" Peterson; a sneak preview of Richard Glatzer and Wash West's The Fluffer, a drama set in the world of gay porn; Swimming Upstream: A Year in the Life of Karen & Jenny, a documentary about a lesbian couple who decide to have a child together; Todd Hughes's The New Women, costarring lesbian icons Jenny Shimizu and Cheryl Dunye; a late-night erotica program featuring Radley Metzger's 1972 pansexual farce Score and the documentary The Queer Reveries of James Bidgood; and a tribute to lesbian director Dorothy Arzner.
