John Cameron Mitchell gets Golden Globe nod for Hedwig

Out actor-writer-director John Cameron Mitchell received a Best Actor, Musical or Comedy, nomination as part of the 59th annual Golden Globes, which announced nominees on Thursday. Also of note to gay audiences: Dame Judi Dench and Kate Winslet were both nominated for their portrayal of bisexual novelist Iris Murdoch in Iris; Tilda Swinton was cited for her role as a mother protecting her gay son from blackmail in The Deep End; and Six Feet Under, Will & Grace, Me and My Shadows: Life With Judy Garland, and Wit all scored several nominations in the television category. The Golden Globes will be presented on January 20. Here is a complete list of Golden Globe nominations:
